There's something out there in the corn. Most likely it's a pack of squealing children enjoying the UK's latest family entertainment, a maize maze. Between mid-July and early-September, farmers all over the UK invite the public to multi-activity parks built around themed mazes grown in their fields. With family tickets priced between £18 to £27, they're great value for a fun day out.

Created from 1.5 million plants and spread over more than 15 Wembley-sized football pitches, the York Maze claims the title of biggest in the world. This year, a 1,000 foot long Apollo astronaut commemorates the moon landing. And it's not all kidstuff. The maze hosts barbecues, torchlight evenings and even a naturist night with British Naturism.
