Spooky events galore dominate half-term in the run-up to Halloween. But there are lots of activities celebrating science, too - or just enjoying nature during the last outdoorsy holiday break of the year.
Here’s Sky Travel's guide to Britain’s best bet for entertaining the kids on an October awaybreak:
You don’t need spooks or witches to get frightened at Thorpe Park, whose new Saw ride is quite
terrifying enough, with its 100-foot vertical drop. The park is also home to Stealth, Europe’s
tallest rollercoaster, and the infamous Colussus, and further terror lies in rides in the dark laid
on for special Fright Nights running October 12-November 1.
Booking essential: Head to the
Thorpe Park website
