Now, there may be some of you who like nothing more than to meet up with friends and grab a drink at the newest, trendiest cocktail bar in town. And while I tend to agree that this is a fab way to spend an evening, remember that it isn't the only way...
What with winter still hanging on, we've been having a think about the Great British Pub. You know, the real deal. The ones that make you feel all cosy and warm as you sit down beside a roaring fire to devour award-winning sausages or traditional fish & chips.
And with a bar that can cater for vodka-and-orange types, through to real ale enthusiasts, I can certainly think of worse ways to spend a Sunday afternoon. Or any afternoon for that matter.
So, here's a few of the UK's ‘classic' pubs, as defined in the ‘Classic Pubs of Britain' guide, that can be picked up inside the pubs themselves....
Now, this is a building with a history.
Reputed to be one of Manchester's oldest buildings, this was the one time home of John Byrom. Before becoming a pub it was used a base for many businesses.
Perhaps the Old Wellingon's most poignant life event is the damage caused by a terrorist bomb in 1996. Since then, the building had been meticulously dismantled, moved 100 metres, and put back together.
Well, after all that effort, it would be rude not to visit.
