Godfrey Hall present his tried and tested tips for travelling with children on holiday
A real family island, Menorca has everything that is needed for a family break.
With a large number of safe play areas along its south facing sandy beaches, nightlife is low key and there is a relaxed easy going feel to the island.
With temperatures in the summer months ranging from 24-29 °C it is sand, sea and sunshine all the way.
Travelling with children however can sometimes be a nightmare and the one thing you don't want to happen is to arrive at your destination feeling as though you just want to pack up and go home!
Preparing for your trip can often mean a stress free journey and a chance to arrive relaxed and ready for a great time.
Remember to get your child a passport as all children under 16 now need one of their own.
Contact the airline or the tour operator well before you leave, explain that you have young children and try to get a bulkhead seat as there is usually more space here and somewhere to put all the bits and pieces.
Booking a flight at night can be a good idea as children will hopefully sleep through the journey.
If you can, buy everything you will need for the journey before you arrive at the airport. Don't leave things to the last minute.
If you are travelling from a local airport why not make a visit before you leave? This way you will get an idea of the layout and any problem areas.
Make yourself a checklist.
