Don't get sucked into the world's worst tourist traps. Here's how to avoid the pitfalls and become a smart, wised-up traveller.

Oh, dreamy, romantic Paris. Bet you just can't wait to get to that snapshot. You know the one of that iconic image of you and your loved one snatching a stolen kiss at the top of the Eiffel Tower with that amazing panoramic view of the beautiul Parisian backdrop. It'll be just like Jack and Rose when they're on the Titanic; wind blowing in your hair. It's not a ship, but who cares.
Everyone from your parents to your friends will be so impressed at how incredibly gorgeous and thoughtful your boyfriend or girlfriend is. Except there's one slight problem. The photo is edged by other tourists who all have the same idea so your perfect snapshot is ruined by the annoying crying kid in the background because he's dropped his ice cream. (Hm, not quite so impressive!).
Wise up: Definitely don't miss out on the architectural wonder of the Eiffel Tower but if you want romance you won't find it on the mass tourist production line at the top.
Be original and get that Jack-and Rose moment on the 56th Floor of the Montparnasse Tower. In 38 seconds you can fly to the top of the tower in Europe's fastest lift to get unrivalled views of the city.
And if the lift doesn't impress, then the cocktails served in the bar at the top of the building just might.
