Is travelling half way around the world to party and shop in style in Hong Kong worth it? Our writer Anna Brech finds out.

Travelling half way around the world to party and shop in style may seem a little extreme - or so I thought before I hit Hong Kong for a weekend break.
Asia's very own Manhattan is straining at the seams with trendy bars, chic hotels and retail bargains, all set within one of the most dramatic city landscapes in the world.
Once a British colony, Hong Kong now belongs to China and benefits from an eclectic East meets West vibe which seems to permeate all aspects of city life.
From the moment I stepped off the plane, it was impossible not to be swept along by the frenetic pace of this cosmopolitan capital, which promises both glamour and the thrill of adventure.
Whether it's a buzzing nightlife you're after, top notch shopping or just something a bit out of the ordinary, Hong Kong has it all.
