When it comes to finding some sun this winter, the Canary Islands may come to mind straight away, but are they a good place for those in their 20s? Sarah Foden finds out
By Sarah Foden
If I told you that I’d just got back from a weekend away where I’d gone to a music festival, learnt to scuba dive, gone surfing, partied on a luxury yacht with locals and visited some volcanoes….where would you guess that I’ve been?
You may be surprised to find out that I’ve just got back from the most easterly of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote.
When I was sent to find out if the Canary Islands are ‘cool’, I wasn’t exactly sure what I’d find. Now just to be clear by way of ‘cool’ I’m most certainly not referring to the temperature. My job was to find out if Lanzarote is a place for people in their twenties to visit and to find out what there is to do here for intrepid explorers as well as investigating the nightlife.
When you think about the Canary Islands the first thing that may come to mind is winter sunshine. Their location off the west coast of Africa means there is little variation in temperature throughout the year, making it a great place to catch some sun even if it’s bleak and rainy here in the UK.
But, what you may not know is whether there is much to do for someone looking for some adventure
and a lively holiday destination and this is my reason for going, to find out.
