Exclusive Interview: Simon Calder meets the Chief Executive of Ryan Air, Michael O'Leary, and asks him about some of his recent and controversial policies.
By Simon Calder
"I am beloved across the industry, and across the world".
No, not me, but Michael O'Leary, chief executive of Ryanair, Europe's leading budget airline, speaking exclusively to me for Sky Travel.
Not every Ryanair passenger might agree with Mr O'Leary's assessment of himself, but there is no doubt that his aggressive low-cost attitude and rapid expansion programme has transformed flying in Europe.
His airline will handle 67m passengers this year, some of whom may have to buy two seats if they are deemed to be too large, and - if he has his way, and Boeing can be persuaded to develop such a thing - they will have to put a pound in the slot before using the on-board loo.
Hero or villain? You decide.
