''Am I really going to run 26 miles?'' This is the question Sarah Baxter has been asking herself recently in the lead up to the London Marathon. Find out how she has been getting on in training.

Am I really going to run 26 miles?
As methods of sightseeing go, it's probably one of the more extreme. London: that most of iconic of cities (no less so for being home) will lay spread out before me - Tower Bridge, Canary Wharf, the murky gurgle of the Thames, Buck Palace and the Mall.
Though how much I'll notice of any of them is questionable. For me, Tower Bridge's iron-and-stone embrace means halfway; the mini-Manhattan of Canary Wharf my 20-mile hell. Big Ben will sound my 25-mile death knell.
Yes, in precious few days I am running the Flora London Marathon.
I LOVE the London Marathon. (Or should that be lovED?) Stuff Rio Carnival or Chinese New Year - this is the ultimate dramatic spectacle.
Look at the facts: participants - 35,000; costumes - outlandish (rhinos, superheroes, Maasai warriors); drama - in abundance: the highs of the nervy start, the lows of the dark, dark many-miles that follow, the heart-rending pathos of listening to a shattered runner explain their personal reasons for running.
It's got it all.
And now it's got little old me. I've made the rather impetuous and extremely foolhardy decision to cross the barrier; to switch from awed spectator to (most likely) bedraggled and broken participant. Gulp.
