I've had four whole hours of tuition with twice Olympic snowboarding team member and World Cup medallist Lesley McKenna. Finally I can stand up, I've learned to do some turns and am ready to take on my arch enemy. Securing the button under one thigh, pushing forward ever so slightly, a bit of a wobble...... and I've got it. Two further sessions with Lesley and I am 'linking my turns' down a blue run.
The blizzard clears over the course of the week and, now I can master the board, the exhilaration of the exercise, the sense of achievement and the beautifully sunny mountains are intoxicating.
I and the other girls on the trip have settled into a lovely routine. Up early for breakfast, out on to the slopes, lunching on hot soup and sandwiches in a local café before more snowboarding and then back to devour a delicious afternoon tea after all that exercise.
After that it's hot showers, evening yoga, gathering round the blazing fire and, later, dinner, conversation and wine.
Morzine is a picturesque French Alpine village, just a couple of hours drive from Geneva at the centre of Portes Du Soleil area. Unlike some ski-resorts it's sensitively maintained, with atmospheric touches such as bell-jangling horse and carts trotting through town and candle lit restaurants serving raclette, a dish which involves roasting a gorgeously gooey cheese spit at the table.
The Roxy Snow Camp caters for everyone from complete beginners to seasoned boarders and some great discounts at the Morzine Roxy shop are included in the deal.
The Roxy Star Ski Chalet
Star Ski Chalets is home for the week and, run by a young British couple, provides for every girly indulgence; from Molton Brown products in the bathroom, to evening make-overs and the yoga and a hot tub in which to soothe aching muscles.
They make a big deal about the fact, as this is where the mineral water stems from, Evian is literally on tap making for lovely soft showers and silky, healthy hair.
As the ski-season, in Europe at least, comes to an end it's the time more sporty types usually start planning trips for next season, something since Austria I have studiously avoided.
However, I have loved every single moment of the Roxy Snow Camp, even when my shaking arms struggled to push myself back up after yet another snowy fall. It's been supportive, indulgent and thrilling and, thanks to Lesley and the other girls from Roxy, I can now snowboard.
After the last disastrous attempt this feels like something of a miracle. Book me back in for next year.
Luxury ski and snowboard holidays in beautiful fully catered chalets in Morzine. And Evian on tap! Give the guys a shout and they will pick you up from Geneva airport.
