NO video diary today, folks, because I’m flying to Florida to see the Oasis of the Seas – the biggest cruise ship ever built.
Hopefully I’ll be able to send back daily reports from the 225,000-ton ship as we sail from Fort Lauderdale for a couple of days – it all depends on the internet signal at sea.
In the meantime, watch Friday's video above, now.
BALLERINA Darcey Bussell will launch the new £350 million P&O ship Azura next year.
Darcey, former principal dancer of the Royal Ballet, will name the 115,000-ton ship in Southampton on April 10.
Darcey, 40, who now lives in Australia, said: “I am so excited, honoured and, at the same time,
somewhat filled with trepidation to be Godmother to Azura, as I know how significant the ceremony is viewed by the ship’s captain and crew.”
P&O managing director Carol Marlow said: “Darcey epitomises glamour, sophistication and elegance, all qualities we have strived to achieve in Azura.”
The ceremony will be watched by 1,200 guests on Azura’s top deck, before the ship’s maiden voyage to the Mediterranean, which includes calls to Malaga, Corfu, Dubrovnik and Venice.
Azura will carry up to 3,100 passengers and 1,226 crew.
VOYAGES Of Discovery’s ship Discovery (that is SO difficult to write nicely!) is in dry dock in Barcelona getting a multi-million pound makeover.
The ship, whose master is my good friend captain John Brocklehurst, is having a major refurbishment of public areas and cabins.
Discovery will sail from Barcelona on November 28 for Mumbai on the first leg of her winter season into the Far East.
The 12 day Mediterranean & North Africa cruise which travels from Barcelona to Sharm el Sheikh, is from £849 for an inside or £1,075 for an outside cabin. Then she sails to Mumbai, a 13 day voyage with fares from £999/£1,249.
