Fuerteventura, Canary Islands
After just a four hour flight, you could be here. On the south of Fuerteventura lies the Jandía Peninsula, where soft white sands meet cooling azure waters.
With an average May temperature of 19ºC, Fuerteventura certainly seems like a good option for some spring sun. It's certainly a step up from our fickle UK weather. Who wouldn't want to be here?

With a flight time of about 3 hours from the UK, Malta is located in the heart of the Mediterranean.
The average May temperature is 26ºC. We'd swap long sleeves for bikinis any day here.

Luxor, Egypt
Luxor, another of Egypt's gems and found only five hours from the UK.
You'll feel as though you've been transported back to the land of the Pharaohs when you discover the historic city of Luxor. It's home to roughly one third of the monuments of the ancient world - it's a fascinating place to explore.
As well as bustling bazaars and busy markets you'll also find age-old monuments. Take a horse drawn 'caleche' to Luxor Temple or visit the impressive Temple of Karnak, situated just north of the city.

Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt
Think, in just five hours on a plane you could be here. Sound appealing?
Sharm el Sheikh is world famous for its diving and has it all as far as sea life goes: hard and soft coral, turtles and dolphins, mantas and moray eels, hammerheads, barracudas, reef sharks and also the legendary World War II wreck in Thistlegorm. Like many of the resorts in the Sinai Peninsula, the marine area is protected and diving centres here operate under environmental-friendly procedures.

Gran Canaria, Canary Islands
Also only a four hour plane journey away is sunny Gran Canaria. Seen from the promenade, this is Amadores Beach in the sunshine.
The gorgeous beach we can see in this photo, is a favourite with many, and offers nearby, all the aminities you might need; restaurants, cafes, and shops.

Tenerife, Canary Islands
Tenerife has an average temperature in May of around 21ºC and it takes around 5 hours to get to.
Tenerife is the biggest of the Canary Islands and is home to the highest mountain peak in Spain. The dormant volcano, Mount Teide, stands at 3,700 metres high and divides the island in two.
To the north there are banana plantations, palm trees, vineyards and a tropical climate.

Lanzarote, Canary Islands
The most easterly of all the Canary Islands, Lanzarote, or Isla de Fuego ("Fire Island") as it is known locally, is full of drama and intrigue. Just over 4 hours on a plane and you could be enjoying temperatures of around 19ºC this May. With the majority of its surface covered in solidified lava and nearly 300 volcanic peaks its landscape can certainly be described as "other-worldly".

This may surprise you but from the United Kingdom a flight to Morocco in Africa only takes approximately 3 hours. May's average temperature for Morocco is 24ºC, and there is plenty to do here for a long weekend, or more.
The country is a real indulgence of the senses - from the vibrant sights, sounds, smells and tastes you'll experience in cities like Marrakech and Fez; to the peace, quiet and beautiful scenery in the Atlas Mountains, and we havent even mentioned the stunning beaches on the Atlantic Coast.

Tunisia, like Morocco takes approximately 3 hours on a plane from the United Kingdom. With an average temperature of 19ºC in May, it'll certainly seem warmer than the UK. Just a short hop away and you'll feel like you've arrived in a different world.
Most of the holiday resorts of Tunisia are along its Mediterranean coast, a 1,300km stretch where you can relax in the sunshine or try your hand at golf, scuba diving, sailing and windsurfing. Inland, you can explore the many museums, or take an excursion into the incredible Sahara desert.

La Palma, Canary Islands
La Palma is one of the smaller Canary Islands. Visited by fewer tourists, this green island allows visitors plenty of peace and relaxation.
As do the other Canary Islands, La Palma offers a varied landscape, made up of volcanic rock formations, beaches and mountains. And only around four hours away on a plane, it just gives you a short time to relax before you get to your winter sun destination.
