Heading to Egypt but no idea where to start? Here are a few of the gems that this fascinating country has to offer:
Pyramids
Egypt is famous for its pyramids, and there is perhaps no other country that can offer such a fine display. Located in the North East of Egypt, Giza is home to the Egyptian pyramids - some of the oldest and most famed structures in the world. Thought to have been built in 2500 BC, the Giza pyramids have become some of the world's most iconic structures, as well as a top tourist attraction. The Great Pyramid of Giza was the tallest manmade structure in the world for more than 3,800 years and is the only lasting member of the 'Seven wonders of the Ancient World'. Also nearby is the famous half human, half lion statue - the Sphinx of Giza.

Valley of the Kings
Dug deep into the rocks are the elaborate tombs of many ancient Egyptian pharaohs. Buried here for some 500 years, the Valley of the Kings consists of many of the most ornate tombs of ancient Egypt. Resting pharaohs include; Tutankhamun, Seti I, and the sons of Ramses II. All tombs differ, some more elaborately decorated than others. Also worth a visit are the Valley of the Nobles, Valley of the Queens, and Valley of the Workers - each sheds a different light onto the ancient Egyptian civilization. Do be aware that some tombs may be closed and numbers are often restricted so as to preserve the tombs as best possible.
Valley of the Kings is located at the West Bank, Luxor, beyond el-Gurna. The ticket office is at the crossroads, after the Colossi of Memmon.
