Canarian Cetasean Museum
A fascinating museum giving an insight into a range of Cetaseans (marine mammals that include whales, dolphins and porpoises). Run by The Association for the Study of Cetaceans in the Canary Archipelago, it has been researching cetaseans for over 20 years which means there's plenty of information on hand about these fascinating creatures.

Castillo de San Gabriel
Built in 1574 at the entrance to the capitals harbour, Castillo de San Gabriel was destroyed in a pirate raid twelve years later prompting it to be restored in 1599. It has since then been used for military purposes and is today the location for the Lanzarote Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum.

Castillo de San José
The second of Arrecife's harbour front castles, Castillo de San José, is not only the larger of the two castles but is also home to The Museum of Contemporary Art which houses works from such artistic greats as Picasso, Miro and Cesar Manrique.

Castillo de Santa Barbara
Built on an extinct volcano in the 16th Century to protect the island from invaders, the castle is now open to the public daily from 10am.

Rancho Texas Park
Coving an area of 50 000 meters squared the Rancho Texas Park is an array of cowboys, Indians, buffalos and crocodiles. There's a number of shows to keep you entertained as well as the chance to go horseriding and join in with a Country and Western themed evening complete with dancing and a 'all you can eat' BBQ, all included in the entrance price.

Go Karting San Bartolomé

Gran Karting Club Lanzarote
The second go-karting track on the island, Gran Karting Club Lanzarote has an ultimate track distance of 1 281 meters. But for younger riders there's a smaller 100 meter circuit and a 865 meter junior track.

Timanfaya National Park
If there's one place you go in Lanzarote then it has to be the Timanfaya National Park. Covering almost a quarter of Lanzarote's surface and created over the space of six years between 1730 to 1736 the islands National Park is a real treat. Volcanologists still believe the area is active and go on a guided tour to be shown the heat and power that's still beneath the rocks. You can also enjoy a traditional meal cooked only by geothermal heat at 'El Diablo' restaurant.

Cueva de Los Verdes
The Green Cave (as it translates into English), forms part of the 7 kilometre long Volcanic Tunnel which was created over 3 000 years ago when Montaña La Corona erupted. Well worth a visit, if not just to discover the optical illusion at the end of the tour...

Guinate Tropical Park
A large park overlooked by Lanzarote's largest mountains and housing an array of exotic birds and wild animals. With regular shows and a children's play area there's plenty to keep visitors entertained.

Jameos del Agua
Part of the 6 kilometre long volcanic tunnel, Jameos del Agua were formed when the pressure of volcanic gases burst through the tunnel roof exposing it to the elements. There's plenty to see, not just the rock formations but the clear water lakes, caverns and even some albino crabs!

Jardin de Cactus
You can't get lost finding the entrance to this park as it is dominated by an eight metre sculpture of a cactus...a hint of what you're going to find inside. Opened in 1991 there are over 10 000 types of cactus housed in the park which you can view at your leisure. A gift shop and a small restaurant complete the experience.

Scuba Diving
It may not be the first destination that springs to mind when you think of scuba diving but Lanzarote has some great diving locations where you can see fish and other marine life as well as wrecks. Puerto Carmen is a good place for beginners as there's a good range of dive sites to suit all levels, however advanced.
