For the chance to bag some bargains then a trip to the markets at Cambrils or Salou is a must. Here you can pick up local crafts as well as fresh produce, clothes, shoes and souvenirs.

Tarragona
Home to approximately 110 000 people and considered to be Spain's most significant Roman settlement, Tarragona is well worth a visit. Walk the streets and explore the many shops along the pedestrianized precinct then stop and have a meal in one of the many great restaurants. Batteries recharged then its time to soak up some culture and visit the Roman Amphitheatre, 12th Century cathedral or Archaeological Museum. And if you haven't quite got your fill of stories from the past then there's the Museu Necròpolis.

Port Aventura
It is a bit of a drive (2 hours south from Girona, follow the A7 motorway via Barcelona and take exit 35) but make a day out of it and its well worth the effort. The park is divided into five fantasy lands (Mexico, Far West, Mediterranean, China and Polynesia) with a variety of attractions and food outlets. It's open 10am to 8pm most of the year and 10am to midnight in July and August.
