Golf Courses
One of the top five golf courses in Europe, San Lorenzo golf course is set in the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa, Almancil and has an impressive 72 holes with the 18th played over a lake. The Penina Championship Course is a 73 hole course, located in Portimão was designed by Sir Henry Cotton in the 1960's. A great course with plenty of challenges even for the experienced golfer.

Church of St. Laurence
This dazzling church, coated with gilded panels, really is a sight that has to be seen to be believed. Never before and never again will you step foot in such a flamboyant or extravagant church. Gold, blue and white tiles cover the nave, vault, cupola creating a truly dramatic effect. A walk around the church reveals a narrative being told through the tiles, the story of St. Laurence.

Horse Riding
Renowned for its first-class equestrian history, the Algarve is a superb place to test your skills. Many stables are dotted around inland Algarve, and cater for all levels of rider - from beginner to professional. Most will also provide free transport from the beach resorts to their stables.

Shopping
A good shopping street which fuses mainstream stores with smaller boutiques is Rua de Santo Antonio in Faro. Highstreet designers such as Zara and Mango can be found here, alongside specialised shops selling unique clothing, footwear and jewellery.

With such a large variety of watersports available on the Algarve beach strip, there really is no excuse not to give one, or more, a go. For those feeling energetic, try parasailing, waterskiing, or windsurfing; for a more leisurely excursion why not hire a pedalo or a sailing boat, and for a truly unforgettable treat head out to sea for some dolphin-watching.
Water Sports take place all over the Algarve coast, but perhaps the best places to head are Lagos, Vilamoura or Meia Praia.
