Lindos Acropolis
The Temple of Lindian Athena at the Lindos acropolis was one of the most sacred sites in the ancient world, and as such was visited by Alexander the Great and, as legend has it, by mythical personages Herakles and Helen of Troy. The Hellenistic stoa contained within was built in about 200 BC, and other relics date from this period all the way through to the 13th century.

Pantheon Waxwork Museum
A once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the gods and heroes of myth and epic poetry as the ancient Greeks might have imagined them. Sound and light displays bring the waxworks to life, and included in the display are such illustrious classical figures as Perseus and Herakles. Find the museum on the path up to the Lindos acropolis.

Karma Reggae Bar
An alternative to the traditional Greek bars and clubs dotted around Lindos, Karma Bar is a hidden treasure. This popular restaurant is family run and friendly. It specialises in Greek food, and has a wide range of dishes to choose from, all of which are a delight to the tastebuds. Palace of the Grand Master
A fortress within a fortress, the Palace of the Grand Master was home to the Knights of Rhodes in the 14th century and a hideaway during threatening times. The impressive main gate leads through to the palace, while inside priceless Hellenistic mosaics, including one of the mythical snake-haired Gorgon, Medusa, line the chambers. Street of Knights
One of the most famous sights in Rhodes, the Street of Knights is a medieval street that, as the name suggests, was the meeting place for 14th-century knights. With stone buildings set with coats of arms and arching bridges, this ancient thoroughfare gives a great impression of historic Greece. The Street of Knights runs between the Palace of the Grand Master and the harbour.

Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent
One of the town's main landmarks, this pink mosque was built to celebrate the sultan's victory over the Knights of Rhodes. Once a magnificent building, its minaret was removed in 1989 as it was deemed unsafe. The mosque is today closed to the public but it remains nonetheless a popular site for tourists. Hamman Turkish Baths
Historically a relaxation spot for the well-heeled nobility, the Hamman baths are today open to the general public. Built in the mid-1700s, the baths are a wonderful place to soak and unwind. Shopping
For a diverse range of products, Rhodes New Town is the place to head. Upmarket boutiques sit alongside local clothing stores, giving you the choice between big-name brands and more traditional clothing. The busy courtyard is filled with market stalls selling crafts, jewellery, food and drink. With plenty of cafés in the surrounding area, you can refresh with a coffee before diving in again.

Mandraki Harbour
The main port of Rhodes for over 2,500 years, Mandraki harbour connects the Old and New Towns of Rhodes. Statues of a doe and a stag watch over and supposedly protect the harbour, standing at the entrance in the spot where the Colossus is believed to have once stood. Boat trips leave from Mandraki harbour to neighbouring island Symi and also Turkey.

Aquarium
The largest aquarium in Greece with almost 40 tanks providing naturalistic conditions for all manner of Mediterranean underwater life, including tropical fish, turtles and octopuses.
