Achillion Palace
Famed for its part in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, the Achillion Palace was originally built for Empress Elizabeth of Austria in the late 1800s. Its neo-classical style isn't to everyone's taste: Elizabeth herself disliked the palace but stayed due to her love for Corfu. Inside, look out for the magnificent paintings and original furniture, while outside, the green gardens are lined with palm trees and bronze statues, the grounds offering wonderful views of the coastline. Located in southern Corfu, 12 miles south of Corfu Town.

Agios Spyridon
This unique white and red tower stands tall within Corfu Town's small shopping streets and is shelter to what is Corfu's most religious address, the Agios Spyridon. Built in the 1500s, this church is home to the mummy of a worshipped saint, and to a great amount of silverware brought here by pilgrims. Located in Corfu Town.

Aqualand
Aqualand is one of the biggest water parks in Europe and a trip here really will entertain all ages. With its central location, it's a great place to visit for the day wherever you're staying and is positively overflowing with attractions. Test your nerve on giant freefall slides, twisters, and black holes or relax in the lazy river and jacuzzi while the kids fool around on water-based rides designed specifically for youngsters. Land lovers meanwhile can play in the adventure playground and bouncy castle. Families can have fun together on the family rafting or kayaking challenges, or by diving into the third largest wave pool in the world! Located in Agios Ionnis.

According to legend, if a couple swim together in the waters at Canal D'Amour they will always be together. True or not, the secluded beaches and bays at Canal D'Amour are only accessible by small paths or ladders, making them the perfect place for a romantic getaway.

Esplanade
A fusion of green park and town square, the Esplanade is a cheerful retreat from the busy streets and provides a place to sit and watch as the people go by. Why not enjoy a coffee at one of the cafés that line the town square, or sit on the grass itself for a relaxing afternoon? Be sure to look out for the various monuments dotted around the square, cool down at the fountain or, if you're a cricket fan, join in with a game on the park's pitch. Find it in Corfu Town.

Kavos Nightlife
With more than 100 bars and clubs to choose from, Kavos boasts some of the most vibrant nightlife in all of Greece. Of course, there are restaurants a plentyif you don't fancy clubbing. But if you do, then you won't be disappointed. Cocktail bars, sports bars and dance bars open from about 10pm-3am, while nightclubs don't get busy until about 3am and keep revellers entertained until well after the sun has come up. The clubs here are not a place for the fainthearted - be prepared to drink and dance, or look on while everyone else does.

Mount Pantokrator
Translated as 'The Almighty', Mount Pantokrator is Corfu's highest peak and makes a good trip whether or not you decide to go up it! Take the trek to the top and, on a clear day, you will be rewarded with fantastic views over Albania to the east, Italy to the west and Corfu Town to the south. If climbing, do be aware that weather conditions can change quickly. Alternatively, stay on flat ground and admire Mount Pantokrator from below. Located in northern Corfu, 23 miles north of Corfu Town.

Old Fortress
Elevated above sea-level just east of Corfu, the Old Fortress allows breathtaking views over the waters and over the east coast of the island. The church of St George can also be seen. The Old Fortress was originally constructed in the 1500s by Venetians but has since been fortified, and is now the setting for an annual summer light and sound display. Located in Corfu Town

Palaiokastritsa
A very popular spot in Corfu and for good reason: Palaiokastritsa hides numerous beaches within its woodland and bays. These beaches draw the crowds because various water sports take place on them, but they are also safe for swimming, and you can take a boat trip from here out to sea. Accessible 16 miles north-west of Corfu Town, via a main road.
