Medina
Built in the 1460's and 1470's, Hammemet's old town offers a unique charm. On the outskirts you will find rows of souvenir shops, but pass through these, wander the narrow streets, and discover an unspoiled residential area. Each home has a differently designed plaque on its door, the majority representing good luck, for example the symbol of a fish. To the front of the Medina is a market, whilst at its East lies an ancient Muslim cemetery.
