Sharm el Sheikh is, of course, world famous for its diving and has it all as far as sea life goes: hard and soft coral, turtles and dolphins, mantas and moray eels, hammerheads, barracudas, reef sharks and also the legendary World War II wreck in Thistlegorm. Like many of the resorts in the Sinai Peninsula, the marine area is protected and diving centres here operate under environmental-friendly procedures.
But despite being a mecca for divers and snorkellers, it also has an impressive choice of land-based activities. In addition to the traditional quad and jeep safaris, you can try desert trekking on horseback, specialised off-road driving lessons, or even visit the Sinai Xtreme Park which offers sand boarding, a bungee rocket and paintballing. You can also visit the Sinai Heritage and Diving Museum in Na'ama Bay by the jetty, or even go ice skating!
Sharm el Shiekh also has the Zen Group Health Centre and Spa, an international Thai company that offers carefully selected relaxing and revitalising massages, natural facials, body treatments, manicures and waxing by experienced professional therapists. You can also try Tai Chi, Qi Kung and Hatha Yoga.
You'll find a variety of cuisine here, from Indian to French, Japanese, Mexican and Italian, as well as the fast food outlets you find everywhere. Head to Old Sharm and you'll find an array of restaurants and eateries with strong local flavour, fresh fish and, most importantly, good value for money!
The average transfer time from Sharm El Sheikh Airport is 20min.
