    INTUROTEL - Hotel chain in Calad'or, from what I could tell made up of four hotels - 3 x 3star and 1 4 star. Very professional, clean and tidy and very popular with Germans/Dutch. We booked half board for second week and the food was very good, especially the deserts.The main player in Cala Ferrera. ESMERALDA PARK - We were allocated in this hotel but changed as our room was too close to evening entertainment. Stay here if you want to be 'in the thick of it'. There are lots of steps, hard going with a pushchair but this hotel is nearest the beach. The entertainment is mostly German with english aswell and takes part around the swimmingpool and beach during the day and by reception in evening.. This is also where you will eat if you go half/full board even if you stay at Azul Park or Azul Gardens. AZUL PARK - Didn't really take much notice of Azul Park, its further up hill but looked a bit more peaceful still with a few steps and nearer the road. AZUL GARDENS - This is where we ended up. My opinion, the best of the three. Hotel is all on one level and tucked away in its own very peaceful gardens. Sure you have a 5 min walk down to Esmeralda to eat or watch entertainment but its nice come the end of the night to walk back up to the more relaxed and quiet Gardens complex. I also think the pool is the best of the three with a good little snack bar (opens about noon til 6pm). CALA D'OR - These hotels are in Cala Ferrera which is about 15min walk from Cala D'or. Top Tip use the Noddy train the first day you get there to get your bearings. There are a handful of restaurants in Ferrera but for more choice head for Cala D'or where there is a pedestrianised area with lots to choose from - pirates and tex mex good/ safari restaurant bad. Apparently the Marina offers a better quality dining experience but its the other side of Cala d'or. There are two kids entertainment areas close to hotels - with bouncy castles, ride on bikes/karts, trampolines etc. The beaches are good, they are coves not huge expanses of beach so can feel a little busy at times and water is clear and clean. Its expensive in Cala d'or probably as much to do with exchange rate but gone are the days of a cheap evening meal and drinks. Two weeks cost me about £1500 for hotel then a further £1500 for food,drinks entertainment etc. SUMMARY - Stay in Esmeralda if you have older kids, Park or Gardens if you have younger kids or a couple.

    Have just come back from this hotel. Breakfasts were excellent, buffet style, every type of food you can imagine. Evening meals were a bit less inviting, unless you like Rabbit, Veal or Fish!!! All in all though it was a relaxing holiday. Would recommend it, staff very friendly, rooms spotless and great weather.

    we booked the esmeralda after seeing it in the online broucher, it had everything for our 2 kids age 16 and 13, but on arrival we were told we were in the azul garden, the reception held 2 people the poolside bar closed at 6pm, that was all there was to do. when we booked this with thomas cook they should have told us we could be staying in one of the other apartments, its very misleading if we had of known we wouldnt have booked this place. the apartments were clean but my husbsnd had to set an alarm for 7am to get us a sunbed. the thomas cook rep (cris) disappeared when you asked him for help. if you are booking online like we did find out were you are staying before you go to avoid dissapointment

    Anyone wishing to book The Esmeralda Park, please be careful that you get the booking that you wish, as we had booked via Thomson direct phone line, our booking receipt stated quite clearly "Esmerelda Park", and to our dismay upon arrival were directed to the quite separate block called Cala Azul Garden. The block is OK as far as accommodation is concerned but the main complaint we had was that this block was located way along a road, around a roundabout and then along another road past shops. It had no indoor restaurant, just a small snack bar by the pool, so we had to traipse down the road to the main building for restaurant meals, and way off the beach. All in all quite a disappointment as we had particularly chosen the Esmerelda Park being close to Esmerelda bay, which I may add is lovely and would have been ideal for our party of 7 consisting of children under 5 and a pregnant daughter in law too. We have raised this issue with Thomson Reps on site and direct on our return to Customer Services to no avail, Thomson saying Cala Azul Garden forms part of the main complex, but all in all we believe the brochure and booking confirmation to be misleading. We liked the area of Cala d'Or, the whole area consisting of small pretty bays, and the main town has a variety of super restaurants.

    I have just returned from a 2week stay at the Cala Azul Gardens with my husband, 7yr old daughter and 10yr old son and my friends and their 3yr old and 6yr old children. I have to stay we had an excellent time in Cala D'or, the Azul Gardens were spotlessly clean and spacious. We were lucky to get a pool view on the ground floor if you get chance then do request a pool view. My friends had a garden view at the rear of the hotel this was nice too especially if we wanted to get away from the sun it was lovely and shaded most part of the day. The pool is fantastic, there is the childrens section then a section where my 7yr old daughter could stand in most places then there was the deep area it was huge, plenty room for everyone of all ages. There is a pool bar which is open everyday but closes in the evenings - the only downside i found was i like a little bit of music to listen to when sunbathing round the pool there was none of that. The rooms were cleaned on a regular basis and we were always well stocked with towels and toilet paper. there is a tv where you can watch sky news and some english tv. the only downside in the kitchen area was there was no microwave but we got by. there is a no eletric kettle but there is a stove kettle which is satisfactory enough - does the job. from what i needed to use the reception the staff were very friendly and would also offer to help. as we booked our holiday independently we didnt have a rep but there was absolutely no need to complain about anything. Cala D'or also is a lovely place. there are some fine restaurants to sample. Paparazzi is just as you come out of the Garden Apts, that is devine then there is the Restaurant Tropical which we visited three times. As you come out of the Apts onto the road turn left then left again go past a steakhouse and an english pub and the tropical is just on the corner. it is quite isolated from the other restaurants but well worth searching for it. there is also a gorgoes indian restaurant in the other direction heading towards a childrens play area called Mallorcalandia you cannot miss the indian which is next door to a chinese and right opposite the spar supermarket. this is worth a visit too. for the children you have mallorclandia and the trampolines and go kart area along the "strip" you cannot miss this. our children loved to go here most nights. the entertainment also in the sister hotels Cala Azul Park and Esmeralda is also good fun. we went to see the magician, the parrot show and the weird quy who stood on glass and brought out a python. kids will love him. i think i have summed up Cala D'or it is a fab place (do go and see the Marina also) this is beautiful. approx 20 mins walk from the apts where you will pass the square of shops and restaurants. Cala D'or is an ideal family fun holiday.
