October 11,2009:
Stayed at the Martinique from October 3rd-10th. As only paid £166 each for the week including flights I was not expecting the world. On arrival your issued with one electronic door key... third day we locked ourself out of the room - rather than reception letting us back in we had to pay a euro to get back in to the room which I thought was ridiculous. Rooms are of a good size, one bedroom with two chep beds (and I mean cheap and nasty), one living area, kitchenette and a bathroom. Bathroom was ok, although there is one very dim light which was not great! Balcony of a good size. I emailed the hotel before arrival and asked for a high floor room overlooking the pool which they did. Hotel is full of foul mouth and aggressive British lads who find the need to shout at everything, every other work was [--]this.... Lots of banging, shouting until the very early hours... and I mean 5:30am so do not expect to sleep. The air conditioning in the room was terrible so you may find the need to keep your balcony door open to let some cooler air in at this time of year, which in turn lets the mosqitos in - I have never had so many bites in one night. TV costs 3-4 Euros per day so we did not bother. Location was ok - a five minute walk to the beach. Pool of an ample size but you may not want to sit around with groups of lads shouting and swearing. Certainly not a hotel to bring children or for families. Clean towels every other day, room sort of cleaned but balcony never swept. I would never stay at this hotel again and a week was too long!!!!!! -
October 8,2009:
This was a great hotel for the purpose... i went on a stag trip and they ensured at least 2 rooms were next each other so we were close and put the other rooms on the same floor. Checkin was swift and very helpful, 1 Euro for an extra room key is a good money making scheme for them tho!! The ammenities are great - football pitch, water polo goals, table tennis, large swimming pool, ample sun loungers... The bar was nice and clean and reasonable prices. 10 min walk to most places; Beach, BCM but decent breakfast places and supermarket on your doorstep. They are bang on nail about check out so dont think you can have a cheeky lie in on your last day - they will phone you to get you out. Good overall stay but would only recommend if it is with a party group, families do not want to go near this as it will result in one of your worst holidays ever. -
September 21,2009:
I travelled as a group of 16 lads and girs aged 17-18. We read previous reviews after booking the hotel and was immediately worried that we had made a mistake. This was not the case. On arrival we had a bit of a wait for our rooms although we were early so this did not worry us too much as we were able to all put our stuff in one of the rooms which was available. Reception area was clean and tidy, reception staff were pleasant enough. When we got our rooms, we were pleasently suprised at how big, clean and equipped they were. Large balconies, and even though two beds were sofa beds, these were just as big as normal single beds. Pool area is pretty busy during the day, no entertainment when we went apart from a strip tease i think twice a week for both men and women in the evening. The location of the hotel was a bit of a downer although not too bad. It was a 10-20min walk to the strip depending on the amount of alcohol consumed before. 10 mins to BCM, 5 mins to the beach and around 7 mins to the pirates show (highly recommended!). There were two shops directly outside the hotel which sold everything you needed including food and alcohol. However I would recommend a short 2 min walk around the corner to the spar shop as it is far cheaper and a bigger selection. Nearest bars were about a 5 min walk away although there is a place outside the hotel called Happy Inn and this was a highlight of the holiday. Great staff, EXTREMELY CHEAP prices and quality entertainment. Also it is about a 10min walk to the pirates show. Overall I would NOT recommend this hotel to families with children younger than 17 and even then be prepared for some noise at early hours in the morning, however it wasnt bad when we went. Security guard at night is a bit heavy handed, checking that every lad that goes back isnt being followed by a prozzy! Best to get a safety deposit box even though we didnt have any trouble with anybody breaking in, but still lock your balcony doors when leaving the room. I would recommend this to anybody who wants value for money, decent rooms to stay in, plenty of drink and a quality time with loads of memories. Best to get a safety deposit box even though we didnt have any trouble with anybody breaking in, but still lock your balcony doors when leaving the room. -
September 17,2009:
Just come back from a brilliant weekend in Magalluf, 21 of us celebrating a 40th birthday. These apartments were just what we needed - clean, spacious & modern. They are fairly noisy, obviously & I would not come here on a family holiday but for groups of friends or young people you can't go far wrong. The majority of people here seemed to be made up of groups celebrating one thing or another. There is a security guard patrolling at night though so the noise levels didn't get out of hand. The pool was really nice but we preferred the beach as there seemed to be a mini heatwave while we were there & it was a bit cooler. They are just a short walk from the main nightlife but plenty of bars & places to eat in the immediate area. Some of the hotels that cater to hen/stags etc tend to be a bit grotty & downmarket but would definitely recommend the Martinique. -
September 16,2009:
Just back from a week in Magaluff 6th-13th Sept 09 4 girls age ranging from 27-37 years old, staying at the Martinique and after reading the reviews i was a bit worried, but it was great its called appartments but it more like a hotel with 24 hour reception and a security guard patrolling at night, the place was very clean and reception were very helpful when our shower was leaking, we got fresh towels every other day and beds made/changed every other day aswell, the pool is very big and no shortage of sun loungers, we met lots of people who have stayed here many times as they think the hotel is great and keep coming back, there were a lot of stag and hen partys staying at the hotel but i think Magaluff attracts that in general, were planning our holiday back next year and we will be staying at the Martinique again.. Magaluff is mad full of clubs and pubs and restaurants so not short for something to do, the place certainly doesnt close we were out all night many nights and everywhere was still open definately the place to be if you want to drink party and socialise, not much sleeping to be had but hotel wasnt that noisy incase you wanted any. Overall a great place and a great hotel, highly recomended..xxx
