November 4,2009:
We have just returned from Sands Beach resort. It is a lovely complex with 7 swimming pools in total. We travelled with 2 children, aged 8 and 12, they loved the swimming pool by ther Mai Tai bar which was great for eating at lunchtime. We stayed in a beachfront apartment, which was a great location, but there is no way it was of 4 star standard,. This was the only thing that let the holiday down. They are a nice size, spacious, ours had one bedroom (the bed was like sleeping on a block of wood). The kids had two separate beds in the living room area, a pull down bed and a sofa bed, which were more comfortable. The bathroom was in need of an update, and the apartment was only cleaned twice during our stay. The walls are paper thin so you need to hope you dont get noisy neighbours. We had a lovely balcony area that you could sit out on. We ate at the main restaurant which wasnt great so we ate out most nights, it's a 10 minute walk into the centre and you are spoilt for choice for restauants. Our favourite was El Maestro. Reception staff are a little slow but the kids reps and bar staff were friendly and helpful and the kids were well entertained during the day with activities like darts, pool competitions, aqua aerobics, there was always something going on. There was also a separate kids club too. Evening entertainment was fun including a supremes and temptations tribute band, quizzes, disco, bird and reptiles show. The trip to the fire mountains is well worth a visit including a camel ride which the kids loved. All in all we had a great time and would probably return to this complex, although I would book a 2 bed apartment and even though I was not impressed with the standard of accommodation, would return solely for the rest of the facilities. -
November 1,2009:
This is a fantastic hotel for young families. As already reported by many other people, there are 7 pools in total as well as the beach so no one area gets overcrowded. If your children are a bit older it is quite safe to let them wander a bit on their own where they will invariably make friends with other children in the complex. It is very quiet at night with no noise problems. The evening entertainment is in the large hotel complex so does not really disturb the areas where people sleep. The biggest draw back with this hotel is the fact that you may book and pay for a more expensive 2 bedroomed apartment, however, when you arrive these are regularly overbooked and we have twice now been bumped into a smaller apartment despite on the most recent occasion having booked our 2 bedroomed apartment a year in advance. This was with the assurance from the management that we would get what we booked this time. We also made contact with the hotel during the year to make sure we were booked into a 2 bedroomed apartment. When we arrived they had overbooked and we were not in a 2 bedroomed apartment. After a heated argument in reception we were eventually moved to a 2 bedroomed apartment but sadly I expect this was at the expense of someone else. It is obvious after having conversations with others that this happens all the time. If like me, you like to get what you have paid extra for then this may not be the place for you. Sadly, although the hotel is otherwise a very good holiday for a family, my family will not be returning as I am not prepared for someone to take extra money from me for a larger place only to find that there is not a larger place available when I get there. -

We booked this after looking at trip adviser. My wife, 2 year old son and I really loved the hotel and the resort. The hotel is divided into 6 squares each with about 30 aprts a pool and kids pool. Our Square was the Plaza Canarias, i think it was the only 1 that didnt have the non slip surface around the pool. Forget about the towel on the sunbed rule, loads did it and got away with it. try for a first floor aprt, they are more private as you dont have passers by looking in, although your rubbish seems to be forgotten about. The fake lagoon looks a bit minging but the complex is very clean, activities all day if you want it. The resort is also very clean but apart from 1 street the walk ways and promenades are in need of repair, buggy pushing is difficult. At night you have to run the gauntlet of resturant reps, head for the Pueblo Marinera for lots of lovely places to eat that are packed every night. our fav was El Patio. Would defo go back -
October 25,2009:
We have just returned from a great week long holiday at Sands Beach. The food was good, would recommend staying half board as the current exchange rate made everything very expensive - a round a drinks for 3 (2 being coke/lemonade) was around 9 euros and a small packet of crisps was around 2 euros! The place is shabby and could do with a lick of paint and a refurb, particularly the bathrooms but its very clean and the maid comes mosts days. The TV in the apartment has movies on all day long to suit most tastes and the entertainment team try very hard but are very amateur. The pool was just a few steps away from our sofa and the weather was perfect so we didnt really need anything else, although I can imagine at peak season the pool would get very busy, there are 7 pools and a private beach in the complex so Im sure you can find a space somewhere. A trip to the volcano site in Lanzarote is a real must but dont book via the hotel if you would like to be taken there as they charge 5 euros each for the pleasure, wander into Costa Teguise and you will find the tour operators to book direct, All in all a great place to stay although Costa Teguise is very quiet so if you are looking for a party place this wouldnt be it. -
October 23,2009:
me and my boyfriend stopped at the sands beach apartments in cost teguise for 1 week from 27sept to 04oct! we are 24 and 20. we had the most lovely time! the weather was absoltly perfect and sands beach was the perfect place to stay for us. we were self catering so cant comment on the food but the rooms were great....flatscreen tv, dvd player, big bed, nice bathroom with big bath and double sinks, very large mirror....kitchen had microwave, fridge, hob, and also cups, glasses, plates etc plus cooking utensils....not that we cooked much!! hotel was really clean! pools are lovely!!!! reception staff brilliant ...really helpful!! the hotel is about 15mins walk away from the main bars and restaurants is costa teguise! but its a lovely walk....flat and can walk by the beach! we walked there every night! we went here as a cheap and cheerful 2nd holiday after having our main holiday in egypt in july. we werent expecting much but the whole holiday was fantastic. LOVE costa teguise and would definatly return to sands beach!!! :)
