  I have just got back from staying here, and i can say after reading all the reviews i enjoyed my stay and is not like most of the bad stuff on here, it was clean basic and not far from all the clubs, but it is also quite and nice place to stay.
- November 13,2007:
  myself and my partner have just returned from these apartments and although basic they are clean and absolutely ideally situated for access to both the old town and the new town! The well maintained pool is right outside most peoples apartments and the little snack bar is run by a lovely welsh couple (mike and jan) serving gorgeous food and drink at very cheap prices e.g 2 euro a pint and 3.5 euro for a fryup. They have not been there long but here`s hoping they will stay as they can not do enough for the people on the complex. Mike even does a taxi service to the airport! I have spent many years staying in puerto del carmen and i would highly recommend luz y mar for your stay. Its def were i will be staying from now on. Its a very quiet complex and quite intimate, only downside is there is no security, but this is ok as long as you lock up at night. Oh yes, there is 1 rather large maid with no personality but the others are quite pleasent!

  i have just returned from staying at the luz y mar apts.i was very dissapointed with the apartments in general. the room next to us was broken into on their 1st night. it seems theives have keys to the apartments and can come and go as they please! they were broken into whilst they were sleeping. and they had a 10 year old child in the room with them. they took all their money , mobile phones even training shoes. there is no security at all at night on the complex. the first choice rep quickly moved them the next morning, not telling the rest of their guests anything what had happened. i am a 38 year old man with my wife and 2 young kids, i had to barricade the door at night and go to sleep with a knife under the bed !!! i saw the people again at the airport , they told me at the police station their was 6 people their who had also been burgled (stopping in different hotels and apts.) the pool was ice cold ,even in late july. the only things that like the rooms are the large cockaroaches which manage to find their way in every night. if you are going to these apts. please b careful.

  When booking our holiday in Sept 04 for Aug 05 we had no idea of where we would be staying - accomodation on arrival was the status of our booking however when we received our tickets the name of the apartments were stated thereon. We checked out the reviews for the Luz y Mar and were disappointed with the reviews they got especially regarding the security of the complex. On arriving we were pleasantly surprised with the apartments as they were ample for our needs - clean and overlooking the children's pool. Kids were never out the pool and had a ball! Pool a bit on the cold side when first entered but after a few seconds the pool was a great relief to the scorching sun. Security guard was on duty and never heard any complaints of break-ins/attempted break-ins. Apartments were close to the Old Town but not too far from the New Town. Not too close to entertainment therefore could get a decent sleep if that's what you wanted. In our family's view these apartments were superb and contributed to our fantastic holiday and we are looking forward to going again next year!

  We stayed at the Mar apartments, the sheets were really smelly and the towels had a funny smell, I did'nt even attempt to go into the pool. I definetly would'nt stay here again. The luz apartments did look better though. we love Lanzarote but don't go to the mar apartments.
