October 2,2009:
I stayed here with 3 other friends in November last year. We came without great expectations and it was better in some aspects but worse in others. The good points: - good sized bedrooms and living room - ample storage - reasonable-sized balcony and all with view of the pool - snack bar - good location for night life - dated and a bit rough around the edges but nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews make out Bad points: - cleanliness (cleaned twice per week, not 5 times per as stated) - towels changed only once during the week's stay - pool was f-f-f-freezing and we couldn't use it it was so cold - safe in reception area rather than in the room - all apartments have two bedrooms (which helped cut down the cost for our group of 4) - TV was small and coin operated - dated and a bit rough around the edges - a group of lads that were staying at the apartments asked for clean towels but were refused in not a particularly pleasant way (we didn't have any experience of the chambermaids but found the reception staff to be helpful). In summary I would consider these apartments again if I was after a cheap and cheerful holiday where cost outweighed comfort. -

July 2,2009:
Me and my Fiance stayed at Barbados for 9 nights, in June 09. We arrived early 5am and were greeted at reception by a very helpful receptionist. The apartments are very well sized, and very clean. The cleaner comes every day but Sunday and Thursday, and does a great job. The apartment has everything you need for self catering, with a full sized fridge and freezer. The balcony is good for catching the sunrise/set. The pools are good to relax around during the day, with a small shallow kids pool too. The pool bar at Barbados2 is GREAT! H, the main man is amazing. He is so friendly and kind, and very generous with the LOOPY JUICE! recommend Cheese and Ham toastie! Barbados apartments are located 1 min walk from The Yumbo Centre (The Gay Centre in Playa Del Ingles) and 15mins walk from the Kasbah and Irish Centre, but Taxi's are so cheap (3Euro). The beach is a little further, 20min walk. The beach is massive, and stretches all the way from Playa Del Ingles to Maspalomas. Be cautious around the beach, there's lots of ticket sellers for various activities, they will try rip you off! Also, go to the beach during the week, as the Spanish go at weekend and it can get very busy. We spent most our nights at The Irish Centre, in the Randy Leprechaun. It's a great wee pub, and their Booze Cruise is so much fun! Go see Tommy and he will sort you out with well priced tickets for that. For eating DEFINITELY go to El Gaucho at the Metro Centre, next to The Kasbah. El Gaucho is unforgettable, with gorgeous lighting and a great atmosphere. Their menu is large, but mainly focus on Mexican and Grill. We had a great time in Playa Del Ingles, and hope we've helped you make your mind up to go! Stay at the Barbados for a well priced, well situated apartment. -
June 24,2009:
Before flying out to Gran Canaria I'd read some reviews on barbados apartments, and, seeing as I work in luxury hotels, I have to admit I already thought that the reviews were a mixture of good and bad, with the bad coming from people who obviously didn't get what they expected.. I arrived (my friends had arrived two days prior) and was whisked up to the apartment (via the small and basic reception), reception was exacly what it says on the tin, a self service, 3 star apartment.. decor, basic, room, basic, bathroom, adequate, lounge, adequate and kitchenette was minimal... but, really, what else do you expect for £14 a night per person? seriously? The pools - one, family orientated, fairly busy, a bit loud.. the other, calm, fewer people and alltogether very peaceful. A few minutes walk from the Yumbo centre.. (again, it doesn't claim to be anything but what it is), a short walk from the beach... So.. all in all.. you get what you pay for.. personally, I didn't want the pomp and ceremonly of staying in luxury (honestly, I've stayed in the burj in dubai and hated it) accommodation where I wouldn't have felt comfortable in my shorts and shirt.. I wanted a great holiday with my friends, relaxing, chilling and enjoying good food (some great little restaurants in the Yumbo) and great nightlife (too good sometimes.. but I'm not complaining). I loved the apartments.. the maid came in nearly every day (I was quite amused by the fact that the maids don't work Sundays and Tuesdays... but, it's turnaround days, so I understand) and moved everything about a bit, made the beds and mopped the floors... and.. if you're expecting anything more from a 3* then please get back into the real world.. if you want a full maid service.. then go somwhere 4* and have the experience, if you want turndown and butler service, go 5*, pay for the experience and enjoy (both experiences are well worth it in their own right), but if you are paying for a 3* self catering apartment.. then Apartments Barbados are just right for you. P.S. Saw a cockroach, outside the apartment.. read up on them before I went and they are commonplace in Gran Canaria.. again, you have to understand it's part of Gran Canaria and not exclusive to the (I'll say it again 3*) Barbados apartments issue (obviously, it helps if you wash you dirty plates up and don't leave crumbs on the floor etc.. am I teaching you something you don't already know?? I hope not!) Will I return.. absolutely, will I stay at Barbados Apartments? Yes, if I want a 3* experience with my friends, I might spend one or two nights in luxury with my partner for a treat, but to have the best time.. YES.. barbados apartments are for me! last thing.. if you go to Dimonds Bar in Yumbo, say 'Hi' to Paul (Beryl) - fantastic bar manager with wicked sense of humour (which, in it'self says, if you don't have a sense of humour, don't say hi to Paul!) -
May 30,2009:
I have never written a review before...but felt obligated to do so in this instance. I stayed at the Barbados Hotel for a friend's birthday and was disappointed from the moment we arrived. We were half greeted by reception and when we arrived to our rooms we were confronted by a FLYING cockroach and about three other smaller ones. (i'm surprised nobody has mentioned this issue!). Although we eventually managed to change rooms across to the other side of apartments...there were more cockroaches that seemed to have settled in. Yes I am aware that this was a 2/3 star hotel but I was told by other travellers who were staying at different hotels within the area that cockroaches were not a problem for them; the rooms were not fit for the price they were asking. The toilet/bathroom continuously stunk of drains/sewage, the sheets had stains and holes and were never changed throughout the duration of our 7 day stay. The apartment had a brush over by the maid once or twice but the towels were never changed. The staff could not speak English so we had difficulty in explaining to them the nature of our problem. Pool area was small , shabby lift kept breaking down and the service was not great. This hotel definitely needs a revamp into the 21st century..and fumigating the place wouldn't go a miss either! My friend was in tears by the end of the first night. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anybody..DO NOT GO HERE!!!
