November 10,2009:
We stayed in a 3 bedroom, 3 bath unit the week of October 11. We were not in the new section, but were pleasantly surprised with the size and cleanliness of the unit. I had read complaints about the one bedroom unit. Although very nice, the one bedroom is just that---a one bedroom with whirlpool tub, shower, etc. There is no kitchen. On the other hand, the 3 bedroom unit provided ample space, well decorated. There is no maid service, but you do have a washer and dryer. They provided plenty of towels, including pool towels. The locationis is so very convenient---surrounded by all kinds of restaurants and fast food choices. It is also so very close to Downtown Disney and the Theme Parks. We took the back roads in the morning, avoiding the highway on the days spent at theme parks. Our grandkids loved the volcano pool. -
November 9,2009:
We stayed here in first week of Nov-2009 (Whale Cay in the Grande Villas). Entire property is quite well-maintained. The rooms are decent-sized. Our two kids (10yrs) had plenty of room to run around without bumping into things. Beds are reasonable. Kitchen was quite good. There're multiple swimming pools in the resort; the one nearest to our building was clean, never too much crowded. Mini-golf course is good too. There's a mini-mart on premises, which makes it easy to grab a quick something, though Winn Dixie and Walgreens aren't too far off either. The location is very convenient to visit the main Theme Parks, and also plenty of restaurants of all variety in case you don't want to cook. -
November 8,2009:
This place a crazy-good value and a pretty nice place. Still, I?m VERY glad I read these reviews before I stayed here ? it made my stay great for a few reasons: (1) First, I knew what to expect. I didn?t expect daily maid service and I knew that I was going to have to wash and dry my own towels. It wasn?t a problem at all. (2) Based on others? reviews, I knew not to rent their tiny one-bedroom condo. Instead, we got a two-bedroom. It was huge; two full bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a living area, a dining area, and a large kitchen, probably around 1,500 square feet. It easily fit my family of four and would have easily fit six. (3) I knew not to go to their sales pitch or answer the phone. When I first checked in, I had to go to a second desk to get my ?check-in package.? Basically, it was some high-pressure saleswoman that tried to talk me into going to their ?one-hour? sales presentation in exchange for a $70 Visa gift card. I knew from reading these reviews that the one-hour sales pitch would have ended up being 2.5 hours of hell. So, I politely told the saleswoman that I had absolutely no interest in the Visa gift card nor in buying a timeshare. While we were there, the phone rang daily ? I never once picked it because I knew that it was more folks trying to persuade me into a timeshare pitch. Basically, I wasn?t bothered at all mainly because I read these reviews. (4) I knew to ask for a place in ?Phase 2.? Apparently, they?re a lot nicer than the those in Phase 1. We also had the advantage of an elevator, which was nice since we were on the fourth floor. I can just imagine staying here without the advantage of these reviews. I would have ended up staying in a one-bedroom in Phase 1. I would have also undoubtedly ended up in one of their hellacious, 2.5-hour-long sales pitches. I imagine my experience would have been much different. -
November 3,2009:
We used points from our timeshare to stay there. When we arrived I was impressed at how lovely the grounds were. We stayed at Turtle Cay C16A on the ground floor and it was located right next to the pool and the express mini mart - how convenient! The layout of our two bedroom villa was spacious and well decorated. We loved having the jacuzzi and the large bathroom - however, the only thing about the bathroom was that the lights weren't bright enough for me. I liked the fact that we also had a washer and dryer in the unit. The resort is centrally located to many attractions in the area, all within a short drive. The first day we were there we paid over $100 for cab fare so we rented a car at the front desk, at a cost of $300 for 3 days, which I thought was way overly priced. We would recomment to anyone staying here to rent a car at the airport or have it previously arranged and save yourself $50 to get to the resort. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again!!!! -
October 22,2009:
We returned from FL about a week ago. We loved our 3 bedroom/3 bath condo at Cypress Pointe. Our condo was in the older building with no elevators and the open/European bathrooms - neither of those proved to be an issue for us. Our party was 4 adults and 3 kids and we had PLENTY of room. The kids loved the trundle bed and we all liked having the big living room to relax in. Very easy and fast to get to the parks, close to a grocery store, plus a bunch of chain restaurants right next door. However, the pool wasn't as fancy as some of the places in Orlando, so if you are looking for waterfalls/sprinklers/frozen drinks at the pool, this isn't the place for you. The pool was fine for cooling off and relaxing though. We would definitely return to this hotel. For the price it is a great value.
