October 15,2009:
Even better than it's excellent waterfront location, in central Cavtat, is Tea, one of the front desk staff at Hotel Supetar. Her quality service stands out about over others. She was warm and welcoming after a difficult beginning to our time in Cavtat (our prior booked accommodation no longer existed on our arrival in Cavtat ; so we went to Supetar for a room at the last minute). Always smiling, nothing was too much trouble for Tea, who each day enquired after us and was extremely supportive in suggesting activities, restaurants and transport to various attractions. Tea was so professionally attentive we came away with a glowing impression of Hotel Supetar ! -
September 21,2009:
The best feature of this small hotel has to be it's location...step out of the front door and you are literally on the harbourside, compared with many other hotels in Cavtat which seemed to be either away from it all or up a BIG hill this in my view is Supetar's main attraction. We chose half board as this worked out £15 more than B&B and we saved a lot of money - don't go expecting Haute Cuisine and you will not be disappointed, the food was tasty simple fare and we enjoyed every meal - ok you had to like soup if you wanted a starter most nights but the food on the whole was very good. The waiters look after you well in the restaurant and it is lovely to dine on the terrace overlooking the bay. The room was small, and our room (105) was close to the restaurant. My only gripe was that one night we really wanted an early night and the noise of the staff clearing up plates and talking loudly etc put a stop to this. There is A/C, clean towels every day, free shampoo/soap and the room was very clean. The facilities at the Hotel Croatia are also good (outdoor pool/ indoor pool and sunloungers etc). and they provide free beach towels so don't take any like we did 1st time. The hotel also seemed very popular with older travellers (50 plus) although this may have been due to the time of year? The resort was also quite popular with older people so don't expect to go clubbing till the wee hours ! My partner and I are 20's/30's and we felt very young...but this was fine we had a great time. Cavtat itself is glorious I loved it so much, easy to travel elsewhere on the buses/boats, not overly expensive, great sunsets and just a totally relaxed vibe about the place - I will return. -
August 10,2009:
Hotel is old fashioned and meals nothing special. Air con a great plus! However for the price we paid for halfboard you cannot complain especially when compared to prices at restaurants generally in Cavtat. Meals are simple but good. Breakfast tended to be boring over 2 weeksand drinks were poor. Had excellent meals at restaurants Leut and Cavtat in Cavtat and at Proto and Dominos in Dubrovnik. Use of Hotel Croatia's facilities is a big plus both at their beach and pool. Excursions to Korcula and taste of Dalmatia were excellent. Dubrovnik by boat is good. Walking the walls is very hot esp as you have to pay again if you wish to come off. Dubrovnik is best seen in late afternoon and the evening. Staff at hotel very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go again. Yachts in the harbour are something special. I have ticked various amenities as they are availavle at sister hotel, Croatia, which is 5 star and 10 mins walk away -
August 3,2009:
Just got back from a great holiday. However, not all brilliant!. What's not? The hotel food! Breakfast was really poor. The evening meal was worse, unless you like school meals. We ate out every night after the 1st evenings delights! Apart from that, excellent! A few tips-the beach area provided by Hotel Croatia was excellent-they even provide sunbeds/umberellas/towels free of charge! A few other visitors also used their pool area which again was very good The boat trip to Dubrovnik was a real pleasure at a cost of around £10 return. We walked around the walls which takes around 1 hour. Well worth the experience but probably better avoiding mid day as it was very hot! Some great restaurants to experience. Ther are some really nice walks around Cavtat-try walking up to Hotel Croatia along the coastal walk-really beautiful. We ate at a restauarant called Leut- their Madeira steak was superb. However, meals are not cheap. We spend approx 500K (£75) on a 2 course meal with a bottle of wine which was about £18. Be prepared, Cavtat is not cheap. For 2 of us, everyting was at least £5 (2 coffees/2 beers) We gota better exchange rate in Cavtat using their ATM's rather than our own bank in the UK so would use that facility again. However, it was all worthwhile. It was a great place to visit for a week and whilst not cheap, it was of a very high standard. The hotel was in a brilliant location and despite the food being poor, and because of the use of Hotel Croatioas facilities, I would certainly recommend it! -
August 2,2009:
We were more than happy with our stay, room was small but I know that all the rooms aren`t the same size. The breakfast was basic, but what do you expect? its a great value for money hotel, and the location is perfect! I would definitely stay here again, and please try to eat at the restaurant next door called "Galleleo" or something like that, mind you, all the restaurants in the resort are very good, as we tried every one. Have a great stay!!
