November 7,2009:
Just returned from The Reef Atlantis - amazing! Very expensive but The Reef and The Cove are very upscale so plan for it. We had 6 adults and 3 children and had 3 studio suites with fold out couch, king bed and fridge, micro in each. Huge bathroom w/TV! The hotel upgraded us upon arrival to ocean view rooms due to low occupancy. Own beach and pools but close (walking distance) to adventure park, turtles, sting rays, the dig, casino. We did rent a stroller for the 3-year-old. And at night took the shuttle (a breeze/very easy) it was a long walk for the 6 and 8 year olds after a long play day. Food was good - just be aware of the cost. The staff at all of the Reef amenities and Cove amenities were superb! The casino staff and marina village staff were great. We had breakfast in Starbucks each morning for same price as in the states. Lunches were around $8-14 per person for hot dog, chicken nuggets, hamburger, turnkey wrap if you were around pool. Could get cheaper sandwiches at Quizno or Starbucks. We arranged for Fergie's taxi to pick us up from airport and that was $60 but Cyrus gave us a tour of downtown Nassau and history and stopped at grocery store and liquor store - try Kalik beer - good. Dinners were expensive but we went to good restaurants - drinks cost the most. Poolside drinks are very expensive. Pack a plastic pitcher and buy Cruzan Banana Rum and add pineapple and orange juice and make your own. Oct and early Nov are great times to go - no lines - easy access to everything - lots of pool chairs to choose from. Again all of the service, front desk, adventure park staff were wonderful. My feeling is that in our case - WE GOT WHAT WE PAID FOR - The Reef is expensive but we were treated like royalty in every sense of the word. -
October 22,2009:
The Reef is a great spot within the Atlantis resort that allows you all the amenities of the Atlantis without the crowds or noise. The beach is so peaceful and there are plenty of chairs around without having to be there at dawn to reserve one. The pool is by far, the most relaxing of any pools at Atlantis (on a sidenote: Parents, I know your kids can't resist throwing those mini footballs the entire length of the big pools but it's very inconsiderate to allow them to continue splashing other people in the face over and over again when they can't catch it from so far away! Okay, off my soapbox now.....) but you are still close enough to the big pools and rides to enjoy them. I must say, The Reef is not super close to the other resort amenities but frankly, we needed the exercise after all that relaxing and didn't mind the walk. The shuttle is handy for late at night as the paths are sometimes not lit as well as they could be - but never felt unsafe, There are no restaurants in the Reef other than Starbucks but again, we didn't mind the walk. Restaurants were very good but expensive as you may have guessed. If we ever go back, I'll dedicate an entire suitcase for water bottles, diet cokes and sunscreen ($25+/bottle). 2 teens had a ball but didn't use the slides as much as we anticipated due to long wait lines. We all loved the lazy river. Our suite was lovely and loved having the two bathrooms and the kitchen area. The pullout couch must have come from my parent's basement - it was that uncomfortable but like we told our kids, better to be uncomfortable in paradise than comfy at home! Was it a fantastic trip? Yes. Do we want to go back again? Maybe. But not for a while. Lots of beautiful resorts out there to see..... -
October 21,2009:
If your rich dont read this and have a great time!! If your not buy your water and snacks and booze OFF the resort, stop the cab and load up estimating everyday you will be there and get it taken to your room, oh wait NO FRIDGE, so make use of the ice machine if one works. At $8 for a 1 litre of water, $8 per beer, and $4 for coke, and inflated food prices, save hundreds for your NEXT vacation, and STOCK your own room. Off resort $2 beer, $3 water, $8 for a litre of bacardi, and wa wa wi Must go to the fish fry! there all good, and if you go on a Sunday evening the band may be practicing for Junkanoo prior to boxingday, and thats an island experience! -

Anything you can think of, they have it in Atlantis! It just might make a dent in your wallet. The hotel is definitely great! It is clean, modern and has all the amenities you need. From Starbucks in the lobby to 5 star restaurants, variety of food is offered in the resort. The room has a balcony with nice view of of ocean. The bathroom is roomy for a couple with LCD TV. The private beach is beautiful and is connected to other hotels at Atlantis. There are many things/activities you can do. Make sure you schedule it well. The staff are super friendly and courteous. We only wish they have shuttle service to downtown "Bahamas Island" and the prices are less costly. -
October 20,2009:
We spent the Columbus Day holiday weekend in Atlantis and it is an amazing resort but definitely needs to work on their service, especially in the lower price ranged food venues. We had problems on two separate occassions with the staff making mistakes with our orders which were very straightforward, nothing fancy or strange. At Murray's and the poolside eateries there is nothing but a counter clerk yelling orders back to a cook and many mistakes were made as we waited approximately 20 minutes for our meal. The resort was extremely quiet which made it harder to understand how there could be such poor service and made us wonder what it would be like during a busy time at such a massive resort. Over half of the restaurants were completely closed which was very frustrating and I would have liked to have been aware of that ahead of time as I would have planned our meals differently. On the other hand we did not have to wait in any lines and had no problem finding chairs by the pool and on the beach which is amazing! The Reef hotel is gorgeous and we loved our room. I have mixed feelings about recommending it as it is a beautiful place to experience but for the money was not up to my expectations.
